From Soil to Signal: Food, Media, and the Truth We’re Not Told - With Barry Green

Mark Neugebauer

20 Jan 2026

What happens when the systems that feed us are shaped by the same powers that fund our media?

In this episode of Faith, Culture, Politics in Australia, Mark is joined by Barry Green — long-time community radio broadcaster, station founder, and independent media advocate from regional Western Australia.

For decades, Barry has given local voices space to be heard and preserved through community radio. But around 2018, his conversations began to shift. As he interviewed farmers, health practitioners, and researchers, a pattern emerged: food systems were becoming increasingly centralised, narratives tightly controlled, and uncomfortable questions quietly avoided in mainstream media.

That realisation deepened his commitment to independent broadcasting.

Together, Mark and Barry explore how food systems became so corporatised, why regenerative agriculture offers more than just an environmental solution, and how movements like MAHA, Make America, and Australia, Healthy Again, are forcing long-overdue conversations about health, sovereignty, and truth.

This is a conversation about healthy soils, honest media, and why informed communities matter more than ever. It’s not about outrage, t’s about understanding how power works, how stories are shaped, and how ordinary people can reclaim agency over what they eat, what they hear, and what they believe.
